PSP slim custom firmware...?

I've got the PSP slim with the Sony firmware 4.01. How would I move to custom firmware from the start? PS [im a complete n00b at this! so detailed instructions would be great!

in order to get custom firmware(cfw) you need a pandoras battery(a hacked version of a regular psp battery) and a magicmemstick(some programs on your memory stick). ask around, if you know someone with one then they can install the firmware for you saving you time and frustration. there are 2 ways of making a pandoras batt. 1: hardmod(opening up batt & messing with circuits) 2: softmod(requires a psp with cfw already installed) the link below shows how to hardmod a battery. 2 things your gonna need are a mem bigger than 32mb, and a spare psp battery. the vid is very thorough. the guy who made this vid currently has his own 24/7 webcast so if you need any help you can ask him too.
