PSV Eindhoven 3-3 Hapoel Tel-Aviv: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fred-c14136 Rutten admits defensive woes – UEFA Europa League news
In the latest round of UEFA Europa League, PSV Eindhoven recorded a 3-3 draw against Hapoel Tel-Aviv at Philips Stadion on Thursday, November 3.
In the aftermath of the draw, Fred Rutten, the Eindhoven giants boss, admitted that his side’s defence struggled against the visitors' attack.
The Dutch trainer revealed that his side wanted to record a dominant victory, but admitted that poor defending cost them two crucial points.
“We wanted to record a convincing victory. We responded well and played impressively. However, our back-line struggled to defend and conceded goals. It was still nice to see our front-line responding very well”, Rutten was quoted as saying to the media.
The PSV head coach went on to admit that the match was certainly very entertaining.
“It was certainly not boring. Everything happened on the field. We need to deal quickly our defensive issues, three goals against at home are too much, with all respect for our opponent”, Rutten concluded.
The Israeli outfit started the match brightly, away from home, and went ahead in the 10th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Georginio-Wijnaldum-c14629.
In the 33rd minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toto-Tamuz-c35489 restored his side’s lead with a neat finish. Things got worse for the Eindhoven giants after the half-time break when Tamuz struck again to make the score-line 3-1.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ola-Toivonen-c28363 managed to pull one back and keep his side’s hopes alive of securing a good result.
Hapoel were left with ten men on the pitch after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roei-Gordana-c31511 received his marching orders following a second bookable offence. With one man less on the field, the Israeli outfit never really managed to hold out the Eindhoven giants. Three minutes before
the full time whistle, Kevin Strootman’s strike found the bottom left corner of the net to seal the match 3-3.
PSV remained unmoved atop Group C, a lone point ahead of second placed Legia Warsaw, while Hapoel still occupy the bottom last position in the pool.
