The Eredivisie outfit is reportedly interested in signing the former FC Twente stopper as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stanislav-Manolev-c33925, who is expected to move away from Philips Stadion this summer.
Reports in the Dutch media indicate that PSV Eindhoven are taking keen interest in signing Wigan Athletic right-back, Ronnie Stam, in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Eindhoven giants are in the market for a new right-back due to the expected departure of Stanislav Manolev this summer, and the club management see the former NAC Breda stopper as a perfect replacement.
Stam arrived at DW Stadium before the start of the 2010/11 season after making 57 appearances for FC Twente Enschede. The 27-year-old made a good impression in his first season in the English Premier League, featuring in 32 matches
for the Latics.
However, the full-back struggled to find adquate first-team opportunities in the second half of the season despite performing consistently throughout the campaign. The Dutchman managed to make only a single appearance in the past
three months.
The lack of playing time has forced him to consider leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.
With the Eindhoven giants looking to lure a full-back to Philips Stadion before the start of the 2011/12 season, it seems likely that Stam would be donning the PSV jersey next term.
However, if rumours are to be believed, the Boeren are not the only club interested in signing the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 and TSG Hoffenheim are also taking
keen interest in acquiring the services of the Dutch stopper in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Stam has an ongoing contract at DW Stadium that runs until the summer of 2013. Reports indicate that the Wigan management will not let go of the defender for anything less than 3.5 million Euros.
Although, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 should not face any problems matching the asking price, interest from other top flight clubs could very well make competition stiffer for the Eindhoven giants to lure the Dutchman to Philips Stadion.
