Fred Rutten has been leading PSV Eindhoven since the 2009/10 season, but has not managed to guide his side to win silverware so far in his stay at Philips Stadion. The 48-year-old tactician, however, is aiming to become Dutch champions in the upcoming season.
Under the leadership of Rutten, the Boeren finished third in the league table in two back-to-back seasons. A third place finish was on the cards in his debut season with the Eindhoven giants, but it was unacceptable in the recently concluded season after
his side dominated the league proceedings for most part of the season.
Nonetheless, the team management has given the Dutch trainer another chance to guide his side towards glory and after bringing reinforcements in the ongoing summer transfer market, the 2011/12 campaign for PSV and for Rutten looks a lot rosier than the last
two campaign.
Rutten is satisfied with the steps taken by the board to bring reinforcements, especially after he lost his most consistent player, Balazs Dzsudzsak, to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Anzhi-Makhachkala-c39068 earlier in the ongoing summer transfer market.
The Dutch trainer admitted that the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 respectively would certainly give him an extra cushion in the selection.
“Mertens was purchased as Balazs Dzsudzsak's replacement, but he can play in other positions as well. We have more options with him. Wijnaldum can score goals, is creative and has a good individual action. Strootman is quite versatile as well, so we'll have
to wait and see how we line up next year”, Rutten said while talking to the media.
The tactician, then, went on to reveal that his side is aiming to become Dutch champions in the 2011/12 campaign.
“We want to be champions again. That's our objective. The next few weeks will show whether that's a realistic goal. We have a lot of young and creative players in our squad and that's great to see”, the tactician concluded.
The Dutch trainer would certainly be hoping that his side performs impressively in the upcoming season and win silverware by the end of the campaign.
