PSV Eindhoven’s Fred Rutten content with 1-0 win over Legia Warsaw – UEFA Europa League news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven eased to a 1-0 win over Legia Warsaw in their UEFA Europa League group stage opener at Philips Stadion on Thursday, September 15.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fred-c14136 Rutten, the Boeren head coach, expressed his contentment on his side’s performance on the pitch in front of their home crowd. The Tactician revealed that the most pleasing part at the end of the match was that his side secured all three points.
“It’s all about the result, and that was good. In a Europa League home game you just have to take three points, and that’s what we did”, Rutten said while talking to the journalists.
The Eindhoven giants were the favourites to emerge victorious before the start of the match against the Polish outfit. The Boeren proved it with their impressive play in the opening 30 minutes of the match.
The hosts took the lead through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dries-Mertens-c11679 in the 21st minute of the match and continued to put immense pressure on the Wojskowi back-line consistently. However, the early dominance faded away as the match progressed and much of the action
took place in the centre of the pitch.
“I think we started well. For half hour or so, it was quite acceptable, which saw a good goal from Mertens. Then we wasted number of goal scoring opportunities”, Rutten added.
The Dutch trainer then went on to reveal that his side’s mentality is to move forward aggressively.
“After the break, there was more and more space between our midfield and back-line, as this team just loves to move forward. We should watch out for and try to cope with this for the upcoming matches”, Rutten concluded.
The Boeren will take on Rapid Bucuresti at Giulesti Stadium in their second group stage encounter of the Europe’s secondary club competition.
After commencing their European campaign on a high note, the Eindhoven giants would be hoping to continue performing impressively and enhance their chances of progressing through to the next phase of the competition.
