The Boeren technical director Marcel Brands has insisted that the former Sparta Rotterdam defender will become one of the best defenders in the years to come.
Reports from Philips Stadion confirm that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven defender, Jetro Willems, has put pen to an extension to his ongoing contract. The youngster’s contract was due to expire in the summer of 2014, but the new deal will keep him at Philips Stadion until
the end of the 2015/16 season.
The 17-year-old is a product of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sparta-Rotterdam-c40567’s youth academy and started his professional career in the 2010/11 season at Het Kasteel. He made 16 appearances for the Eerste Divisie outfit before moving to the Eindhoven giants in the summer of 2011.
He made rapid developments and managed to replace the injured http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Erik-Pieters-c12766 and Abel Tamata for a long spell. The youngster's good performances in the 14 matches were enough to convince the club management to reward him an extension to his contract.
The PSV technical director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Brands, was pleased after Willems signed the new deal and revealed that the 17-year-old is certainly one of the brightest youngsters playing in the highest echelons of Dutch football.
“We had told Jetro before that we would like to offer him a contract extension once he was eighteen years of age. Jetro, his parents and his agent have complied with our request. He is one of the most promising prospects in Dutch football and has quickly
become a first-team regular”, Brands was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
PSV have also exercised its option to extend Stanislav Manolev’s contract. The Bulgarian stopper had an ongoing contract that was due to expire in the summer of 2013, but the new deal will keep him at Philips Stadion until the end of the 2013/14 campaign.
In addition, the club management has also stepped up to extend the contracts of several youth players. Stefano Marzo, Jason Bourdouxhe and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maikel-c23167 Verkoelen will now ply their trade at the Eindhoven giants until the summer of 2013.
