The Boeren technical director Marcel Brands confirms that the former Aston Villa stopper has prolonged his stay at Philips Stadion until the summer of 2013.
PSV Eindhoven centre-back, Wilfred Bouma, has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Philips Stadion until the end of the 2012/13 season.
The 34-year-old’s contract with the Eindhoven giants expired last month, but the PSV management were keen to prolong his stay at Philips Stadion, and offered him a new contract.
After considering his options, the veteran defender, who came through the ranks of the Eindhoven giants’ youth academy, agreed to extend his contract with the Eindhoven giants for another season.
The PSV technical director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Brands, was extremely delighted after the versatile defender signed the new deal, and revealed that the central defender’s experience adds a lot of value to the team.
“Wilfred Bouma had a good season; he is a highly experienced, genuine team player who adds value to the team”, the Boeren chief was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
Bouma, who started his professional career at Philips Stadion in the 1994/95 season, played over 150 Eredivisie matches for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 before moving to Aston Villa in the summer of 2005.
The Dutch international enjoyed a five-year spell at Villa Park, and played 83 league matches for the Villans before moving back to the Eindhoven-based club at the start of the 2010/11 season.
The Dutchman, who has thus far donned the jersey of PSV in 53 Eredivisie matches during his second spell at his childhood club, was also delighted after extending his contract, and revealed that he always wanted to play more for
the club that gave him so much success.
“I am happy without a doubt. It was always clear to me what I wanted, and that was to play more at PSV, though, the new deal came a bit late. Nonetheless, I am glad after everything has settled down nicely. My objective for the
next season is to lift the Eredivisie title, but we will have to work extremely hard to achieve this feat”, Bouma said while talking to journalists.
