Labyad, Wijnaldum and Matavz’s strikes secured an easy 3-1 semi-final win over Heerenveen, as the Eindhoven giants progress through to the KNVB beker cup final.
PSV Eindhoven boss, Phillip Cocu, was satisfied after his side sealed their place in the KNVB beker Cup final with a 3-1 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Heerenveen-c40463 in the semi-final at Abe Lenstra Stadion on Wednesday, March 21.
The Boeren started the match brightly and put immense pressure on the Friesland outfit. They managed to take the lead in the 23rd minute, when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zakaria-Labyad-c37796 converted Jeremain Lens’ cross from the left with ease.

The Eindhoven giants resumed proceedings after the half-time break aggressively and took the lead in the 46th minute through Georgino Wijnaldum. Erik Pieters’ neat pass found the young midfielder at the edge of the penalty area, and his powered
effort found the left corner of the net.
Four minutes later, Tim Matavz doubled his side’s advantage. Lens’ ball inside the box was tapped in neatly into the back of the net by the Slovenian ace to seal a 3-1 win for the Boeren.

“Our primary objective was to win the match and book cup final place, and all the players did well to achieve that. I am very satisfied”, Cocu was quoted as saying to De Telegraaf.
The Dutch mentor was all praise for the Friesland outfit and admitted that the home side dominated proceedings.
“At the start of the match, we failed to dominate and Heerenveen did well to control the game. In the second-half, we started impressively and made the difference by scoring two goals in quick succession. Then, Przemyslaw made some decent saves. Heerenveen
were clearly stronger, as we gave away too many chances”, Cocu concluded.
