http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554, has agreed to put pen to paper on an extension to his ongoing contract.
The 25-year-old, who has been plying his trade at Philips Stadion since the summer of 2010, had an expiring contract that ran until the end of the ongoing 2012/13 season. However, the new deal will keep him at Philips Stadion until the summer of 2016.
The Brazilian defender, who recently made his 100th appearance in all competition while wearing the Boeren colours since joining the club at the start of the 2010/11 season, was extremely delighted to sign an extension to his ongoing contract,
and insisted that he will try his level best to continue putting in consistent performances.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new long-term contract and I will keep on giving my best for PSV. I train hard to improve myself and want to play as many games as possible”, Marcelo was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
The talented central defender went on to hit back at critics, who were pointing fingers at the Eindhoven giants’ poor defending this term, by claiming that PSV are the best team playing in the Dutch top tier.
“We work hard to improve and I think we are the best team in Holland”, Marcelo concluded.
Marcel Brands, the PSV technical director, was also delighted the 25-year-old’s decision to prolong his stay at Philips Stadion.
“He had one year to run on his old contract; we opted to offer him a three-year contract extension. I’m delighted he has signed. Marcelo has got that winning mentality. He is still relatively young for a defender and will be given the chance to progress
further”, Brands said while talking to journalists in Eindhoven.
The Brazilian stopper, who joined the Eindhoven giants after making close to 50 league appearances for Wisla Krakow, would be keen to continue performing brightly week in week out to help his side win silverware by the end of the season.
