“It’s a trophy that’s there to be won. It will be a big day for the players. As a player, you don’t get that many opportunities to win a trophy. It’s a trophy that’s important to win”, Cocu was quoted as saying to the club’s official
website.
The trainer went on to admit that the Dutch cup and the league hold equal importance for him, and he will do his utmost to guide his side to success at both fronts.
“It would be great to lift the trophy, a few weeks after I was appointed caretaker manager, but it is of paramount importance for the team in particular to win the Cup. The league and the Dutch Cup are equally important to me.
We will give our all to win the Cup”, Cocu added.
PSV are currently occupying the fourth spot on the league table, four points behind the current table-toppers, Ajax Amsterdam. Despite six matches left to play in the season, the 41-year-old has not ruled out his side’s chances
of becoming Dutch champions at the end of the ongoing campaign.
“Lifting the Cup would inspire confidence to the team as the league season enters its final stages. We will start to focus on that after Sunday’s Dutch Cup final”, Cocu concluded.
