The former Borussia Monchengladbach boss urges his troops to perform at their best in their opening game of the 2012/13 season and start the new Eredivisie season on a positive note.
PSV Eindhoven will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RKC-Waalwijk-c40370 in their opening game of the 2012/13 season at Mandemakers Stadion on Saturday, August 11.
The Boeren head coach, d**k Advocaat, knows that his side is the favourite to emerge victorious against RKC, but has insisted that his troops must perform to their potential if they are to secure all three points.
“We are clearly favourites to win the opening game of the 2012/13 Eredivisie campaign so it’s up to us to meet expectations, but we all know that past performances are no guarantee of future results”, Advocaat was quoted as saying
to the club’s official website.
The Waalwijk outfit had a decent 2011/12 campaign, finishing in the top half of the Eredivisie table. In addition, RKC also secured a hard fought 2-1 win at home over PSV last term, and the 64-year-old tactician has admitted that
it will not be an easy game at Mandemakers Stadion.
“It will be a tough game at the Mandemakers Stadium, but we have to win this game, nothing else will do”, Advocaat added.
The Dutch mentor, who took the reins of the Eindhoven giants last month on a one-year contract, has expressed confidence in his side to perform better this term, and has confessed that they have worked extremely hard in the training
grounds.
“We prepared ourselves properly in the training sessions and attempt to become better as a team and more consistent this season”, Advocaat concluded.
PSV finished third on the league table last term, missing out UEFA Champions League berth for the third time consecutively in three years.
The Boeren were the favourites to be crowned Dutch champions in the 2011/12 season. However, their poor and inconsistent showings in the second-half of the campaign coupled with Ajax Amsterdam’s brilliant performances forced http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281
out of the title race.
Nonetheless, Advocaat is confident that his side will perform better this term, and add more silverware to the club’s trophy cabinet at Philips Stadion.
