PSV Eindhoven technical director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on a season-long loan deal last term, but they failed to agree terms with the English Premier League outfit.
The Eindhoven giants were keen to form a close relationship with the Blues, which could have seen the Eredivisie powerhouse nurture young talents coming from Stamford Bridge.
However, the Champions League winners, who had already close ties with another Dutch top tier outfit, Vitesse Arnhem, denied cooperating with the Boeren.
And Brands revealed that his side were keen to acquire the services of Lukaku and Courtois last year.
“Last season, we tried to meet up with Chelsea for Lukaku. In a similar way, we tried to snare goalkeeper Courtois”, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 technical director was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutchman, who was appointed as the club’s technical director in the summer of 2010, went on to insist that his side is now focusing on forming a good relationship with the English champions, Manchester City.
“Now Chelsea are no longer an option, because they cooperate with Vitesse, we [now] have turned our attention towards Manchester City, with whom we already have good contacts”, Brands added.
Meanwhile, the Boeren technical director also took out time to reveal that his side had set their sights on luring Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heurelho-Gomes-c16173, to Philips Stadion. However, the Brazilian gloves man’s hefty wages coupled with his asking price
forced the club to quit his pursuit.
“We have seriously looked at this and were interested in him. But it was his salary demands and his asking price of €9m which were unattainable”, Brands concluded.
