The 18-year-old has garnered interest from several European clubs, but the Eindhoven giants’ winger is hoping that the youngster stays at Philips Stadion.

The Belgian winger has revealed that the 18-year-old is a good player and can make hefty contribution to his side’s ambition of lifting the Eredivisie title.
“I think everybody says that to him at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281. He is a great talent and a good player. We want to tell him that we should become Dutch champions and he can make a major contribution”, Mertens was quoted as saying to the media.
Reports indicate that the PSV management is keen to tie down the young versatile forward, who has an expiring contract that runs until the summer of 2012, for a further two seasons. Some reports even claim that the club management would be offering the teenager
a new contract in the days to come.
However, Labyad has refused to extend his stay thus far, expressing his desire to move abroad for pastures greener in the ongoing winter transfer market.
Nonetheless, Mertens has revealed that his side is hoping for the 18-year-old to pursue his career in Eindhoven at least until the summer of 2012.
“I am not as much lifted, because I do not like so much drama surrounding a player. Me along with my teammates are hoping that he stays at PSV until the end of the season and we play for the championship”, the Belgian ace concluded.
Labyad started his professional career at Philips Stadion in the 2009/10 season. Since then, the youngster has made rapid developments and has become a key player in the Boeren squad.
The young forward has thus far made 29 Eredivisie appearances for the Boeren, scoring five goals to go along with his valuable assits.
