The Dutch stopper’s agent has revealed that his client follows http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew’s side due to his friendship with Tim Krul and would be interested in joining the English Premier League outfit this summer.
Reports in English and Dutch media indicate that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Erik-Pieters-c12766, would be leaving his side in the upcoming summer transfer market after being linked with a number of European clubs.
Piet van der Pol, Pieters’ agent, has revealed that his client is interested in joining Newcastle United this summer.
The Dutch International, who has been plying his trade at Philips Stadion since the summer of 2008, was close to joining the Magpies at the start of the ongoing season. The English Premier League outfit was looking for a replacement for Jose Enrique, who
joined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the summer of 2011, but the deal failed to materialise.
However, the 23-year-old’s agent has made it clear that his client will be willing to move to St. James Park should they approach him.
“He was interested last year. Newcastle United is a fantastic club and I know that Erik follows them because of his friendship with Tim Krul. If they come in for Erik of course he will be interested in talking to them, but right now the main thing that he
is focused on is getting fit for Euro 2012”, Van der Pol was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutch stopper’s agent went on to praise the Magpies impressive performances this term and insisted that many players would love to join the Toon this summer.
“Newcastle have done tremendously this season and I know that there are a lot of players who would like to join them”, Van der Pol concluded.
Pieters, who has thus far represented the Boeren in 84 matches, made 16 appearances for the Eindhoven giants this term before a foot injury earlier this month forced him to miss the remainder of the 2011/12 campaign.
He has an ongoing contract at Philips Stadion that runs until the summer of 2014. Reports suggest that an offer in the region of six million Euros would be enough to lure the 23-year-old away from Philips Stadion.
