The Eindhoven giants’ boss heaped praise on their arch-rivals and admitted that his troops failed to assert their authority after going 2-0 up.
PSV Eindhoven recorded a hard fought 3-2 win over their arch-rivals Feyenoord Rotterdam at Philips Stadion on Sunday, February 26.
The Boeren head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fred-c14136 Rutten, insisted that the Rotterdammers were the better side as they fought back bravely from two goals down to level the score-line.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 started the match brightly in front of their home crowd and put immense pressure on the visiting side in the opening half. However, they failed to break the deadlock until Ola Toivonen’s 44th minute strike.
Dries Mertens’ screamer in the 66th minute doubled the home side’s lead. However, Guyon Fernandez’s two goals in quick succession put the Rotterdammers back in control of the game.
The Rotterdammers No. 9 first converted Ruben Schaken’s cross in the 72nd minute and then he capitalised on a poor clearance from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 by hitting the bottom corner of the net.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zakaria-Labyad-c37796 put the match to bed in the 85th minute following some sloppy defending from the Rotterdam giants to lead his side to a 3-2 win.
Rutten insisted that the game was wide open and the final minutes of the match were lively.
“It was open game, which developed into an end-to-end affair. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 put in a fine display, while we couldn’t find our rhythm. We thought we had the game pretty well wrapped up when we had taken a 2-0 lead”, Rutten was quoted as saying to the club’s official
website.
The Dutch trainer then went on to insist that momentum was with the Stadiumclub when they came from two goals down to level the score-line.
“Feyenoord were back on level terms with two goals from crosses from the right wing. Actually the visitors were the better side after they had come back from two goals down. The team showed resilience and were very keen to bag the three points”, Rutten concluded.
Following the win, the Eindhoven giants cemented their place at the summit of the table, two points clear of the second placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar, who dropped points against Heerenveen late on Sunday evening.
