The Eindhoven giants boss has backed the 41-year-old assistant manager to succeed him at Philips
Stadion after the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
PSV Eindhoven head coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fred-c14136 Rutten, has tipped Phillip Cocu to be his successor at Philips Stadion after the end of the ongoing season.
The Dutch trainer, who had an expiring contract at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281, earlier revealed that he would not be renewing his existing contract and would be pursuing his managerial career elsewhere after this term.
Since then, there has been a lot of speculation regarding who would take over the managerial hot seat at Philips Stadion. However, the 49-year-old tactician has asserted that his current assistant manager has what it takes to guide the Eindhoven giants in
the next season.
“I would back Phillip Cocu to be head coach. You could talk about any of my assistants but he should be mentioned first”, Rutten said while talking to the media.
Cocu is reportedly interested in taking the head coach post available after the end of the season, while reports are also linking Bert van Marwijk, the Oranje head coach, and Frank Rijkaard with the managerial post.
“Phillip should want the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 too. But the most important thing is what fits best with PSV”, Rutten added.
The Dutch mentor then went on to reveal that he has yet to plan about his future and has not ruled out the option of taking a break.
“Taking a sabbatical is an option. I have been 20 years on the road. I can say from the bottom of my heart that nothing is in the pipeline. I am ambitious but not in any particular direction”, Rutten concluded.
The 49-year-old tactician joined PSV in the summer of 2009 and has failed to win any silverware, finishing third in the Eredivisie table in both the seasons.

Nonetheless, Rutten has already made it clear that his decision of leaving the managerial post at Philips Stadion will not be changed should his side win silverware come the end of the ongoing season.
