The technical director has revealed that the former Rangers boss received many lucrative offers but preferred to coach the Eindhoven giants.
PSV Eindhoven technical director, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Brands, has insisted that d**k Advocaat knows the club very well from his previous spell and his wealth of experience will bring a lot of good.
The 64-year-old tactician has signed a one-year deal with the Dutch giants, and will leave his position as Russian National Football team coach after EURO 2012 to start his new job at Philips Stadion on July 1.
PSV’s technical director has revealed that the club wanted to bring an excellent coach and the current Russia boss was keen to return to Eindhoven.
“PSV wanted to attract an excellent and enthusiastic coach and d**k Advocaat was keen to take the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at PSV”, Brands was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
The 50-year-old revealed that despite receiving plenty of lucrative offers from Russia, Advocaat decided to coach PSV.
“Although d**k Advocaat received very lucrative offers from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991, he decided to sign a contract with PSV, which strengthens our confidence in this cooperation. He knows the club from a previous spell and thinks that PSV has great potential”, Brands added.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar manager will reportedly groom Phillip Cocu or Ernest Faber to lead the Eindhoven giants in the 2012/13 campaign.
“Advocaat is looking forward to working with a number of young assistants, who also had a successful spell as a player under him at PSV”, Brands concluded.
The vastly experienced tactician achieved considerable success during his three-season stint at Philips Stadion from 1995-98. The Dutchman won the Eredivisie title with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 in 1997, guided the Eindhoven giants to KNVB beker Cup glory in 1996 while winning
the Johan Cruijff Schaal twice in 1996 and 1997.
The Dutch trainer also had a successful four-year spell at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 FC, where he led the Gers to two successive Scottish Premier League titles and Scottish Cups.
Advocaat’s arrival at Philips Stadion will certainly boost PSV’s chances of achieving better results in the 2012/13 season. The Boeren have finished third in the league standings for three consecutive seasons.
