The former Bayern Munich star insists that the Eindhoven giants should put in their 100 percent against Ajax Amsterdam to lift the Johan Cruyff Shield on Sunday, August 5.
PSV Eindhoven midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mark-van-Bommel-c24148, has urged his side to put in their 100 percent if they are to win the upcoming Johan Cruyff Shield.
The Boeren will lock horns against Ajax Amsterdam in the Johan Cruyff Shield decider at Amsterdam Arena on August 5, and the former Barcelona midfielder has insisted that everyone should perform at their best in order to win the first piece of silverware
of the 2012/13 season.
“It’s just one game and you’re playing for a trophy, so you always have to go for it. I was taught that you always have to grab a chance to win a trophy”, Van Bommel was quoted as saying to the media in a press-conference in Zeist.
The 35-year-old midfielder, who started his professional career at Fortuna Sittard in the 1992/93 season, returned to Philips Stadion on a Bosman move last month after spending one-and-a-half season at AC Milan.
The veteran midfielder left the Eindhoven giants in the summer of 2005, but the Dutchman has insisted that the club is in almost a similar than what it was then.
“Not much has changed at the club. When you’re talking about coming home: it’s always very relaxed, but you still have to perform. PSV have a very young, but eager squad that has surprised me in a positive way. The level of play during training is quite
high. But you have to push yourself to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Max-c24993 in every game and expect certain things of the team”, Van Bommel concluded.
The Dutch international, who has tons of experience under his belt, featuring in more than 500 league games while wearing Fortuna Sittard, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, Bayern Munich and Milan colours, would be hoping that his side manages to win silverware by the end
of the 2012/13 campaign.
PSV have not won the Eredivisie title since their 2007/08 season triumph, though, the club did end their trophy drought last term, by winning the KNVB beker Cup.
