Question:

PTSD from war question?

Lots of military personnel are returning from overseas with PTSD. Its because they see things that are traumatizing and that they are not accustomed to at all.

I heard that servicemen from small towns where nothing really happens are more likely to suffer from PTSD because everything is so peaceful and quiet in their towns unlike the city.

Is this true?

Also, I grew up in a very rough neighborhood where guns and murder were commonplace. I remember seeing dead bodies of murder victims on the street as their blood creeped into the storm drain.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but having been accustomed to such settings, would I have any less of a chance of getting PTSD from war? I plan on joining the Marine Corps as an officer after college.

Thanks
