  1. yes

  2. No chance any time soon. The 23 members of  Argentinian Rugby Union have recently voted against professionalism!

There is no way Argentina will be squeezed in to TN or S14, if she can not pull her socks up and help herself.

If no efforts are made to take advice from the IRB and make changes to facilitate positive change, the Pumas will be kept on ice for the next four years.

Argentina must help herself. It is not simply a matter of SANZAR saying please came and play with us. If she can't guarantee full stadiums and TV channels being flipped from soccer to rugby, how can she expect to play with the big boys ?

Show us the money, and at least try to help yourselves.

And yes Susan C, kicking the Kiwis out would be a fine idea, since they have won 8 TN championship and no other nation has ever won more than two !

Edit: Too true Susan C, too true. Still . . . my failings won't stop NZ taking a ninth championship this year.

Of course I would never suggest that Ireland be relegated from the six nations to allow the Pumas to raise the bar in the Northern hemisphere. That would just be a ridiculously, simple, totally manageable solution to the situation.

  3. tough question.  Without question Los Pumas deserve a spot in a top tier competition since they're the only top nation to lack one.  I personally would love to see them in the tri-nations because i love watching them play.

In terms of talent they've got good players on the field every time.  They've got great centers, a fine fullback, a solid fly-half, one of the game's finest half-backs, and arguably the best forward pack in the world.

The only trouble i would see in getting the Pumas to join in the Tri-Nations, their rightful home, is that 1) the travel between Argentina-SA-NZ-AU would be extremely difficult on the players, and also, most of the Pumas play their rugby in Europe, which has very strict rules about players being available for club versus country.

  4. As I understand it Sanzar - would much rather have a combined team made up of Tongans Samoans and Fijians..

Apparently the one they already have - isn't enough..

  5. It'd be great since they're already very competitive, and would become more so by playing against the SANZAR teams.  This would lead to even more regular pastings of the Northern Hemisphere teams, which is preferable.  Also, it would balance some of the travelling disparity faced by the Springboks (a debatable point, of course).  The problems lie in their lack of professionalism, whether they can genuinely improve the financial vaibility and profits of the current format, and the fact that almost all their players are based in Europe.

It would probably be more sensible to include them in an expanded 6 Nations.  This would take care of the location of their players, but they would not have home games, which is a pity.  Furthermore, annual pastings of the Northern Hemisphere teams can then occur.

The Pumas need to be included in one of these competitions, though!

  6. nonenzed- by that are you perchance referring to the new Zealand squad?

  7. No, being pedantic here. It will be the 4 nations...

NZ , Australia, SA and Argentina. No country will  be tossed out of the comp. It will be great seeing the Pumas in action.

  8. If you put them in, who comes out to keep it Tri-nations?

How about kicking out the Kiwis?
