Are they any good? Would you recommend the one on a pitcher, to fill up and put in the fridge? Do they actually clean your water?

  1. Yes, they work very well. I was working in Texas for a year and the water there had a bad taste due to minerals in the water. I put one on my sink faucet and the water tasted great. The little filter cartridge lasted a very long time.

  2. Yes, either PUR or Britta are both good.  If you're concerned about contamination in your tap water or just bad taste, these filters will take care of both concerns.

In fact they're good even if you're not worried about your water quality because of the convenience of the pitcher you mention.  I like the pitcher because then I can store the water in my fridge and it's nice and cold for when I want to drink it.  Cold, clean, practically free water - you can't beat it!

  3. Get dental insurance before getting a water filter.  These filters remove the fluoride from the water (that the govt. puts in.)  Fluoride is great for your teeth, however, with it being filtered out from the water-you will need the insurance to repair your teeth sooner or later.

  4. Exactly what are you trying to "clean" out of your water?
