PWC useage per season?

We are looking to purchase a PWC for occasional use at the cottage. My neighbour says we should be looking at used because a two year old machine will probably only have a few hours on it. He states that people tire of these machines very quickly and they hardly ever get run after the novelty wears off. Is he right? What is the average hour useage of one of these machines over the summer?

Your neighbor is probably correct!

Owners who live on the water will use their skis and boats more than those who do not. It is a bit of trouble to load them up, and travel, and launch. Just a guess, the average(?) may go out at most once a week for a two hour ride, but more like once a month!

Actually, the ones which are ridden and maintained properly are in better condition than the ones who don't get ridden. Which is happier, the dog who is fed, petted and played with all the time, or the one left in the backyard alone? Machines are kind of that way as well. They are made to run, and last well if taken care off.

The skis which are hardly ever run, are probably not cared for at all. They may give you lots of trouble! but, they can be a great deal.

I bought a used waverunner a few months ago with 124 hours on it. It's a 2001. It's running perfectly and with proper maintenance and repair, it will last a long time.

I don't live on the water but I live near it. So far this summer, I have put about 20-25 hours on it.

Some people get tired of them very quickly but for serious riders, they are a lot of fun and in many cases, an excellent alternative to a boat. They are smaller but many are quite powerful...more than capable of pulling a skier or tuber. Storage-wise, if you have limited space, a waverunner takes up less space. I keep mine in the garage. No problem.
