Pablo Abian trounces Christian Kirchmayr in 2013 European Club Championships – Badminton news
Men’s Singles campaigner Pablo Abian of Spain employed a superb strategy in a group match of European Club Championships and defeated Christian Kirchmayr on Wednesday, May 29, 2013.
This short-lived tie was part of the match between Recreativo Ies La Orden and Team Argovia. Both male shuttlers remained head-to-head for 22 minutes before concluding this showdown with final figures of 21-12 and 21-15.
Pablo Abian, who was playing for Recreativo Ies La Orden club, took some time to gain the right momentum but he managed to register a splendid straight-set win. Meanwhile, the opposing shuttler could not serve up to his potential and surrendered in a disgraceful
manner.
The Spanish campaigner was confused in the beginning of the first set but he managed to gain confidence by ruling the court in a few back-to-back rallies. He made the best out of this flow and doubled his tally way before the mid-game break.
Pablo Abian looked at his best just before the interval as he claimed many points on merit and finished first half of the set with a respectable total of 11. He was in a commanding position in third quarter of the set and this status helped him to strengthen
his grip over the game.
He pushed his challenger in all areas of the court and confounded him with a flurry of productive strokes. The Danish player had no reply to this power packed campaign as he surrendered with the scoreboard flashing the final figure of 12-21.
The second set of match kept the audience intact just until the half time as Pablo Abian did not give his opponent even a single chance to proceed in latter part of the game.
In first half of the set, both contenders put all in their possession to gain an immediate advantage but neither of them could hit the mark. They challenged each other all the way to one-minute break and made the crowd gasp.
Finally, the Spanish shuttler produced his A game and prevailed in a few consecutive rallies. He enjoyed an upper hand throughout the set and swept the table with an overwhelming total of 21-15.
