Pablo Larrazabal shot a 71 in the final round of the Spanish Open, finishing tied for the 2nd position with Alejandro Canizares and Søren Kjeldsen.
The Spanish Larrazabal recorded his second European Tour victory at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla in Seville, Spain. He competed well in the four-day tournament and finished on the runner up position at the end of the day.
He scored a -1 in the first round and shot four birdies. He played well in unfavourable and tough weather conditions on Thursday.
He finished at par in the second round. He recorded his best score of the event in the third round, by scoring four impressive birdies and just one bogey. He added a -3 to the final leaderboard score on Saturday.
In the final round on Sunday, he again continued his leading performance and shot a 1-under 71. He was at par on most of the holes, shot two birdies and one bogey as well.
His final scores, after playing four rounds, were of 5-udner 283. He finished three strokes behind the leader Francesco Molinari, who scored an 8-under 280 and won the event.
''Today's round was one of the best I played with conditions easier than the first three rounds,'' Molinari said. ''I just played really good golf all week but did struggle yesterday with the pace of the greens and the wind".
He Added: ''It's huge, it's huge just to win any tournament on the European Tour, but one with the history of this one, in the year of the centenary, is something fantastic'.'
The Spanish Canizares and the Danish Kjeldsen also played well and shared the second position with the Spanish Larrazabal.
Canizares started the tournament poorly. He scored a 2-over 74 in the first round and faced difficulty while scoring. He shot a 72 in the second round and finished at par. Then in the rest two rounds he amazed the spectators for scoring 68 and 69.
However, Kjeldsen's score was far better than that of Canizares's. Kjeldsen was consistent in scoring and shot 71, 70, 71 and 71 in the four-day tournament, sharing the second position with two others.
The European Tour staged tournament is over now. All the players are heading for the upcoming tournament, namely, the Madeira Islands Open – Portugal.
