Pablo Larrazabal on top after first day at Diamond
The first day of the Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity is in full swing. The tournament started on the 25th of July and, being a four-day event, will end on 28th of July.
The best in the world of golf have gathered at Diamond Golf Course to fight for one of the most prestigious trophies on the European Tour, the Austria Open.
The golfers are going to give it their best to win it. Unfortunately there can be only one winner. Some players will be able to impress the spectators with their game while others will fail.
One player who had quite an impressive first day is the Spanish professional golfer Pablo Larrazabal.
Larrazabal managed a good start to the tournament. He played quite a consistent game. His round was a bit delayed due to the rain. Nonetheless, that had no influence on his game.
Larrazabal started his front nine with five consecutive pars. That was followed by two consecutive birdies on the sixth and seventh hole. He ended the front nine with two more pars.
These made his score two-under par after the first nine holes. There were no bogeys, double bogeys or eagles on the front nine.
The back nine was much better for the 29-year-old. He started off with a birdie on the tenth hole. Then he scored two more pars. The highlight of Larrazabal’s game was the eagle, which he scored on the thirteen hole.
He scored three more birdies on the fourteenth, sixteenth and eighteenth hole. There were no bogeys or double bogeys on the last nine holes. These made his score six-under par on the back nine and his total score became eight-under par.
Despite the damp conditions at the course, Larrazabal was able to put on a good show.
After the end of his first day, Larrazabal was happy with his game. In an interview, he said, “I hit the ball very well and gave myself a lot of chances - I made a few and I’m very happy to finally make some putts”.
“I’ve been playing a lot like today but the putts didn’t drop and today they did so I’m very happy,” he added.
