Pablo Sandoval justifies why he was preferred over New York Mets’ David Wright in All Star Game-MLB
By hitting three home-runs in Game 1 of the World Series against Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants’ third baseman Pablo Sandoval has justified as to why he was preferred over New York Mets’ David Wright in the All-Star Game.
By the time announcement regarding the inclusion of Sandoval at the expense of Wright was made, criticism emerged against the voting system. The logic behind incorporating Sandoval instead of Wright who performed far better than him was questioned.
Most of the Mets’ fans were disheartened because Wright was prolific at the plate from day one until the All-Star break. It was almost unacceptable for them that Sandoval earns the opportunity of acting as a starting third baseman in the Midsummer Classic.
In the first half of the season, Sandoval was not at his best. He had yet to reach his sublime form.
However, the fans who voted for the All-Star Game roster knew what he was capable of. They considered him a better choice for representing the National League in such a high profile match.
In light of this, when Sandoval produced three home-runs against the Tigers on Wednesday, those who called into question his place on the All-Star Game roster will be made satisfied. They will be disillusioned now.
Sandoval has steadied the Giants’ journey toward the World Series victory. He has handed them some much needed momentum.
As their morale is high at the moment, they are ideally poised to defeat the Tigers in the rest of the matches in the series.
If Sandoval continues with his excellent form, he can go a long way in lifting the Giants to glory.
The thunder of the Sandoval’s home-runs was also heard by the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez as he immediately tweeted that the third baseman has scripted history.
"There goes the third! Pablo makes history," Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez tweeted.
It is unbelievable for Sandoval himself that he has made history in the World Series by hitting a flurry of home-runs. He will take a while before he realises what a big achievement he has made.
"Man, I still can't believe it," Sandoval said. "When you're a little kid, you dream of being in the World Series."
Sandoval will be looking to carry the momentum forward in the upcoming matches. Growing complacent will be the last thing that he and the Giants will want.
The kind of form that he has attained now, Sandoval is in an ideal position to replicate his performance in the upcoming matches and spearheads the Giants’ offence.
Fans will be ultra excited about what Sandoval will bring in the next game. It will be fascinating to see as to how Sandoval continues his outstanding run of form.
