Pace Friendly SCG wicket awaits http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 - Cricket News Update
Outclassed by Australian pace in the series opener at Melbourne, the Indian batsmen are unlikely to get much respite in the second Test of the four-match series, since curators have promised a pace friendly SCG track for the match, scheduled to be played
at the Sydney Cricket Ground next Tuesday.
The curator at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Tom http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Parker-c80761, has said that the wicket he is preparing for the match will favour fast bowlers before settling down, and will show some movement in the latter stages of the match as well.
Parker said that while preparing the wicket he wanted to emulate the tracks prepared for the last two New Year matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
"The last two years we've really got it together and it has really come up well. I'm hoping to have a pitch somewhat similar to that," Parker told a website.
"That's the ideal scenario and that's what we're aiming for. I don't see why that won't happen. The weather's been kind to me and the forecast is for hot sunny days in the lead-up to the Test and the first couple of days of the Test, so I don't see why it
shouldn't be perfect for us," he added further.
In the first Test of the four-match series at Melbourne, the star studded batting line up of India collapsed miserably against a callow Australian pace attack as the hosts won the match by 122 runs. Pacers played a crucial role in their side’s 122-run win
as 19 off the total 20 Indian wickets at Melbourne were shared between the fast bowlers.
Now as the groundsmen are promising another pace-friendly wicket for the Sydney Test, one can expect the formidable Indian batting line up to struggle once again in the Oz conditions.
There has been a lot of rain in Sydney over the past couple of days but Parker said that it would not hamper their preparation.
"There's been a lot of rain around but we have the covers on as well; we've had a lot of matches up to date and it hasn't affected our preparation too much on the centre," said Parker.
