Pachattack lands a victory in the Grade 3 Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare
Pachattack, daughter of Pulpit, out of mare El Laoob, downed a magnificent victory in the Grade 3 Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare, which took place at Keeneland on 20th April, 2012.
Trained by H. Graham Motion for owners, Flaxman Holdings Ltd, the six-year-old mare defeated Kathmanblu, who finished as a runner-up and the M. Maker trained La Gran Bailadora finished in third place.
Mounted by Rajiv Maragh, the pair landed the narrow victory by a margin of a neck, which added an element of excitement to the race as she completed the race in 1 minute and 43.75 seconds.
Whelped on 26th March, 2006, Pachattack finished third in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic  at Churchill Downs in November,  2011.
Kathmanblu, who is trained by Kenneth G. McPeek, performed in a respectable manner.
The daughter of Bluegrass Cat, out of Abba Gold, was mounted by jockey, Julien Leparoux, and the duo missed the victory by a whisker.
Julien Leparoux was still pleased with how the four-year-old filly performed as he stated that:
“It was a great day,” Leparoux said to the press “Coming into today I knew I had a shot, but you still have to win them. I have had a lot of favorites (previously) but did not win on them.
“I was really thinking I could get (the record and the win in the Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare),” he further stated “She (Kathmanblu) was relaxed. When I could see who was outside of me I knew it was Rajiv (Maragh) so I knew it was going to be a fight
to the finish. She ran good for her first race back.”
Bred by Five-D Thoroughbreds, the filly secured a hat-trick last season, but started losing momentum in the races that followed.

In September, she entered the Grade 1 Garden City Stakes at Belmont Park and competed in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes at Keeneland.
She lost both races, as she lost that winning momentum that she gained earlier in the year.
She redeemed herself in the Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare, and with it she started the season on a winning note, and if she continues to perform in the same manner she will be unstoppable.
