Pacific time tv programming delays?

i live in the eastern time zone and was wondering......do u all have to wait longer to see who wins american idol or wat?

Wat about news? on 9/11, did u all find out about it 3 hours later?

News as significant as 9/11 would be broadcast simultaneously across the nation.

Regular network programing is adjusted for the time difference.  A live program might be put on tape delay for later broadcast in the Pacific time zone.  Otherwise evening shows in New York would be broadcast in the afternoon in California, when most people are at work or in school.

some sports like the Super Bowl 7:00 pm Eastern,  4:00 pm Pacific, 3:00 pm Alaska, and 2:00 pm Hawaii.

Typically, Eastern and Central times zones share the same network feed.  That feed is usually recorded and time shifted three hours for Mountain and Pacific.

So, yes, the West coast would typically have to wait to see who won American Idol.  Breaking news events like 9/11 and Presidential addresses are broadcast live across the board.
