Package Delivery When I'm Out?

Question

What will happen if I'm not at home when an important package is delivered?

It's a Laptop, but I work 12 - 430 + 6 - 1030 Tuseday-Saturday?

Will it be dropped off at the post office?

If it is shipped usps(united states postal service) they will leave a notice if you are not there on a big  ticket item that will not fit in the mailbox...ups will either leave at your door or leave a notice..usually the company that is sending it on items of greater cost will ship by signature only..meaning if you are not there they also will leave a notice to go to the nearest office/warehouse and pick it up.These places stay open untill 7.00 pm....

It depends on the service used.

If its a nondescript parcel sent only by regular mail, it may well be left in a "secure" location on the property (porch, garden shed, etc), perhaps with a note informing you of its location posted through your door.

If it has been sent special delivery or registered, it will be taken back to the local delivery office (the sorting office from which the delivery postmen work out of), and a card will be posted leaving the details of when and where to collect it from, along with contact details.

If you don't start work till midday, you may well be lucky enough to have your item delivered before you leave, but don't count on it (or after you come home, if you start at midnight).

If you have to sign for it then a delivery notice will be left telling you where and when and by what date you must pick it up.
