Packard Bell Easynote M5255 - Will not boot up

Question

My Easynote M5255 laptop will not boot up... All I get is a flashing curser on the top left of the screen... The initial page comes up with options for F2 to enter BIOS setup or F10 for network boot ... neither work.... F8 gives me the option to choose boot device... I tried booting from a bootable cd but system doesn't see it (no light appears on CD indicator) ... HDD appears to be spinning but no errors are displayed ... just the curser on top left of screen.... Any ideas thanks ... Martin
