Packers' Joe Philbin dismisses Tulane University Head Coach offer – NFL News
Green bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin has dismissed suggestions that he has been offered the Head Coaching job at Tulane University and remains committed to the Packers cause as the Super Bowl XLV champions remain
the only team in the National Football League still unbeaten at 9-0.
ESPN reported Monday that Tulane University was reportedly looking at Philbin a former graduate of the University to take on the Head Coaching role of the Tulane Green Wave after Bob Toledo resigned from the job in October with
his Assistant Mark Hutson taking on the duties for the interim.
Philbin has moved quickly to dismiss the speculation telling reporters that there was “no substance” to the reports and he hasn’t had any contact with the University.
"I haven't talked to anybody there and again, my comment is, I'm an assistant coach of the Green Bay Packers," he said. "And to speak anything more of my personal future I don't think is appropriate. That's all I have to say."
“I've got a great job where I'm at, love what I'm doing. We've got a group of guys that has worked extremely hard and they're doing some good things, and I'm looking forward to seeing this thing through." He also went on to say
that people would give anything to trade places with him in his current role and categorically dismissed all speculation.
Philbin has spent five years in his current role with the Packers and plays a vital role with Head Coach Mike McCarthy directing the Packers offensive plays.
Packers are currently the best team in the National Football League winning all of their games since the start of the season as they continue from where they left off winning the Super Bowl last season. Their form has been devastating
as they swatted aside the Minnesota Vikings in their encounter last Sunday winning 45-7 in a match that became increasingly one sided with each quarter. Quarter Back Aaron Rodgers was instrumental in the win as he controlled the game completely from start
to finish.
The Green Bay Packers are preparing for Sunday’s visit by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who are 4-5 and third in the National Football Conference South.
