Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers says Chiefs' tactics nothing new – NFL News
The Kansas City Chiefs tactics worked to perfection. Aaron Rodgers was finally silenced and the Chiefs captured the biggest scalp in this year’s National Football League season.
Kansas City Chiefs put in a tremendous defensive performance to give Green Bay Packers their first loss of the season. As many analysts across the country have hailed the Chiefs tactics as the blueprint to beat the Packers, quarterback
Aaron Rodgers has come out to say that they have faced similar attempts previously and simply had an off-day against the Chiefs.
“Other teams have played similar style of coverages and ideas of rushing four and dropping seven, or rushing three and dropping eight, or playing man with two high safeties," said Rodgers, "We beat those teams. We just didn't execute
very well. They did. They controlled the football. They didn't turn it over to our defense.”
The Packers for the first time in a year had been outscored by the opposition. The Chiefs led by former Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton took advantage of the Packers defence as this time the Aaron Rodgers led Packers offense could
not bail them out.
The Chiefs scored four field goals and a single touchdown during the game. Rodgers tried to get his team back in the game with two passing touchdowns but his efforts were not enough to break through a well organised and disciplined
Chiefs defence.
Rodgers also panned experts and analysts calling the Chiefs tactics as the blue print for other NFL teams to follow against Green Bay saying
“I think it’s baloney,” Rodgers said.
With Packers not the National Football League’s perfect team anymore Rodgers feels disappointed at the lost opportunity. He does not agree with fans who have called the Chiefs loss good for the team as it takes away the pressure
of going the entire season unbeaten.
"I don't know what that means," Rodgers said. "I really don't. I think Vince Lombardi once said, 'You show me ... a person who's OK with losing, and I'll show you a loser.' Something to that effect. I've never been OK with losing."
The Packers will face their biggest Conference rivals Chicago Bears on Sunday at Christmas. However, there won’t be any good feelings on the field. The Packers will look to regain the initiative by winning and put to bed any doubts
on the team’s abilities and take all their anger at the previous week’s performance on the Bears.
For Chicago it is a must win game if they want to retain any hopes of making the playoffs rounds and a fiery encounter is likely on the cards which is usual with these two great franchises.
