Packers Coach Mike McCarthy confirms Rodgers has a sore shoulder
Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, took a hit in Sunday’s National Football Conference Championship game against the Chicago Bears.
Chicago’s defensive back Daniel Manning rammed into the quarterback’s right shoulder as Rodgers rushed one yard for a touchdown.
The hit appears to not be serious. “He’s sore,” McCarthy said about Rodgers shoulder. He added that every NFL player, especially quarterbacks, by this point in the season had some ‘bumps and bruises.’ McCarthy wasn’t concerned about Rodgers condition.
The Packers won yesterday’s game against the Bears, 21-14. Neither starting quarterbacks were able to pass for a touchdown. Rodgers passed 244 yards and was intercepted twice.
Both interceptions came off passes intended for Donald Driver. The rushing touchdown in which he hurt his shoulder, were the only points he scored in the game.
Rodgers also received a hit to the head during that game. Chicago’s defensive lineman, Julius Peppers landed a helmet to helmet hit on Rodgers later in the game. Coach McCarthy said that the hit had not affected the quarterback.
Rodgers has suffered from a concussion twice this season. He was ready to play the next week after he suffered his first concussion but the second time he had to sit out a game because he was not cleared to return to play by physicians and neurologists.
McCarthy doesn’t have to worry about his starter because Rodgers doesn’t have to be on the field again till February 6th. The Packers would face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dallas at the Cowboys Stadium.
The Steelers defeated the New York Jets 24-19 to win the AFC title and qualify for the Super Bowl. This is the first year the Pro Bowl is scheduled before the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowl is scheduled for this Sunday at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.
With the Pro Bowl effectively serving as a bye week for Rodgers, the quarterback is expected to make a full recovery well before the Packers go to Dallas. This would be the first time the two teams meet this season.
