Packin Heat wins Heat 1 of The Coral On TV Maiden Trophy at Romford
With a slight margin of ¾ of a length, the favourite runner, Packing Heat, notched Heat 1 of The Coral On TV Maiden Trophy at Romford on January 16. It was a 400m, Grade OR, Open Race.
With a starting price of 2 to 1, the black dog fought against Steam Machine, Smiler Jack, Bonamassa Buddy, Paddys All That, and Coomlogane Sam.
In his very first race, the young sprinter stunned all by grabbing the top spot. Starting his career with the favourite tag was a matter of great honour for him.
Trained by P W Young, the black dog broke from trap 2, and from the very beginning, the son of Royal Impact started with sheer pace, but he had to struggle till the middle to take the lead.
Even after excelling, he was not able to rush towards the finish line comfortably, as Steam Machine posed as a hindrance for the hound on a few occasions.
However, the dog sustained his speed till he bridged the distance in 24.26 seconds. This fabulous triumph impressed both the bettors and the spectators alike, as they were not expecting such a terrific performance from the debutant.
Whelped in February 2010, the rookie racer is likely to advance his career in an excellent manner, and his trainer also hopes so. The dog definitely is an ideal prospect for the bookmakers in the upcoming events. He also has chances to win the final
of this event.
Steam Machine, despite laborious effort, was not be able to browbeat Packin Heat, and steal the top position.
However, she displayed a brilliant performance, breaking from trap 4, and taking 24.32 seconds to reach the finish line.
Whelped in October 2008, M A Wallis's trainee achieved this position for the third time in her career, which commenced in November 2011.
Smiler Jack finished third in the race. After breaking from trap 3, he reached the boundary line in 24.42 seconds, trailing by 1 ¼ lengths.
Trained by C P Mosdall, the black dog was whelped in June, 2010.
At the end of the event, the first cash prize worth £150 was awarder to Packing Heat, while £30 was given to each of the other five hounds.
