  1. For a long weekend, you shouldn't need too many clothes, and I'd suggest skipping the computer equipment this is a leisure trip.  Keep it to a carry-on bag for convenience and to avoid the new holding charges for luggage.  Here's what I'd do:

    *  Place all liquid toiletries into a one-quart transparent plastic zip-top bag and pack in an outside pocket of your carry-on for easy access when going through security.

    *  Check out the weather forecast and pack accordingly:  one or two pair of jeans, one or two tees, a tank top, a cardigan or fleece (nothing bulky), wear sneakers during travel and pack a less-weighty pair of sandals or dress shoes, the socks and underwear you need. I always throw in a season appropriate skirt just in case.

    *  Use your allotted "personal item" (normal-sized purse or laptop carrier) for any extras you may need:  iPod, extra shirt or fleece, empty watter bottle, etc.  If you manage to pack everything into the regulation-sized carry-on you shouldn't have a problem getting your laptop and any cords you need into the bag.

    *  Remember:  I've rarely used everything I've packed for a trip, even when going bare-bones.  Keep it to the essentials and your mobility (wandering the city, waiting in airports) will make the trip relaxing and fun.
