The Rayo Vallecano coach shared that they cannot remain content with their previous performances as they are still far from realizing their end of season objectives.
Three matches into the 2012/13 La Liga season and Rayo Vallecano are the darlings of neutrals. The Madrid based outfit managed to hold on to top flight status in the previous term and have set higher targets for themselves in the current campaign.
Coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paco-c29025 Jemez took out time to reflect on the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas based outfit’s recent performances which have seen them accumulate 7 points from their first three fixtures of the campaign.
The retired defender acknowledged the positivity surrounding the Primera Division minnows but believes they cannot give a lot of attention to it right now. He stated that they have yet to achieve anything, claiming that they have just had a good start.
Jemez shared that they will take the season one week at a time, and will do their best to make a difference.
“We continue to be so. We have not proven anything yet. It would be a mistake to think that we have done something. It was a good start, but nothing more. We are candidates to go every week and little else.”
When asked whether Rayo can emulate Levante and become the surprise team of the season, Jemez stated: “Hopefully we can be the surprise team every season there.”
Whilst performances have come, it has been the daring tactical approach of Jemez that has been lauded by critics. The 42-year-old has shown a preference to play a three man defence, opting to attack their rivals.
Jemez played down his starting tactics, stated that they are bound to change due to the dynamics of the game. However, he admitted that Rayo defend with three men at the back, also acknowledging that they risk getting exposed on counterattacks with their
strategy.
“Starting positions are anecdotal, I can play a 4-4-2 and defend with three. It is true that with three back risk much, but we have possession and more players in the attacking, you can get easier. Beyond the drawing, all I care is attitude.”
Rayo Vallecano are 4th in La Liga with 7 points against their name, and take on the challenge of Atletico Madrid at the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 Calderon for their next league fixture.
