Pacquiao's reply to Romulo Macalintal’s complaint against split decision loss – Boxing News
Former WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao received a letter from Romulo Macalintal, Filipino lawyer. The letter stated Romulo’s stance against the split-decision loss of Manny Pacquiao to Timothy Bradley on June 9.
Pacquiao was glad to know that Romulo wants reforms in the scoring system and wants to make the sport better instead of just fighting against his native champion’s loss. Pacquiao said, “I am glad that you made this letter with the clarification that your
intention is not to change the results of the fight but merely to protect the rights and interests of the viewing public and boxing in general.”
Romulo, a Filipino election lawyer, had filed the complaint earlier this month with the Nevada Attorney General’s office. The main motive of the request was to inquire the results of Pacquiao vs. Bradley. According to his complaint, fans are hurt with the
decision and they have the right to know what went wrong.
Romulo’s complaint was addressed to Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto. He stated that the complaint represents the sentiments of the millions of Pacquiao fans around the world. Romulo revealed about the complaint saying, “It is (my) humble submission
that whatever will be the results of the investigation or inquiry…will surely be of great help and guidance in future sports activities sanctioned by the State of Nevada for the protection of all sports enthusiast and those who have all the rights to demand
and claim fair and credible system of officiation.”
Unlike others, Romulo does not want the fight results to be reversed or changed. Instead, he merely wants an official inquiry into the matter so that fans around the world know what was the motive of the judges when they handed the victory over to Bradley.
After getting to know about Romulo’s complaint, Manny Pacquiao, former WBO welterweight titlist, feels proud of himself for being loved by millions around the globe.  The Filipino has urged his fans to stay calm and believe in him as he will bring the title
back home. Pacquiao will be meeting Bob Arum next week to discuss the possibility of a rematch against Bradley.
