Pacquiao: I have no plans to retire – Boxing News
Manny Pacquiao, the current WBO welterweight champion, spoke his heart out regarding his future plans. According to Pacquiao, he has no plans of retiring so soon, as many analysts believe. Pacquiao is currently Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym for his upcoming
bout against Timothy Bradley. In his recent interview, Pacquiao said he still thinks there is a lot more to do in the industry and so he will not so soon.
When asked about the Mayweather vs. Cotto fight, Pacquiao said, “I saw the Mayweather-Cotto fight. It was a good fight and everyone [the fans] was happy. I have no opinion on Mayweather’s plans to retire. That’s his decision. A very personal decision. I’m
glad to be back at Freddie’s gym. I have no plans to retire. I still love what I’m doing. Freddie and I had a good camp in the Philippines and we are ready to work very hard in preparation for Timothy Bradley. Bradley is strong, undefeated and young. I have
a great deal of respect for his talents and his accomplishments.”
On the other hand, Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer, was asked regarding Pacquiao’s training. Roach revealed that they are on a steady pace to prepare Manny for June 9 against Bradley. Roach said Manny is physically ready now, so they need to work on the
strategy at the moment to ensure Pacquiao counters Bradley well.
Roach was then asked if he thinks Pacquiao can beat Floyd Mayweather. According to Roach, there is no chance for Floyd to stand in front of Pacquiao. Roach believes Pacquiao is a very dedicated fighter and he learns quickly. Even in his previous interview
Roach said that Pacquiao can easily defeat Mayweather since Mayweather has lost his speed which was evident in his fight against Cotto.
Manny Pacquiao will take on Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao’s title will be on the line against the unbeaten Desert Storm. Since Bradley is a fighter of the new generation, many analysts think it will be challenging for
Pacquiao to defeat him. However, the Filipino champion is confident that he can take down the unbeaten easily.
