Pacquiao believes aggression will be important against Marquez – Boxing News
Former WBO welterweight titlist Manny Pacquiao believes aggression will be of most importance when he faces Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao, who is coming off a controversial loss to American unbeaten fighter Timothy
Bradley, hopes to bring back his lost aggression in order to knockout Marquez this time.
Both fighters will go head to head for the fourth time. Pacquiao has already won two out of three fights against Marquez, via unanimous and split decision, while the first fight ended up in a tie.
“Aggressiveness is the most important thing for this fight,” said Pacquiao in an interview with The Times.
“Who’s smarter? I believe myself. You’re going to see that in the ring. This time will be different,” asserted the Filipino legend who believes he will acquire dominance over Marquez this time.
“In and out, in and out, side by side. Speed, hip movement. We have a Plan A and Plan B. The plans are to pressure and counter him. Move my head. A lot of work,” he added.
Pacquiao is among the speediest and toughest pound for pound boxers in the world. He has faced the fiercest opponents of his time and has made them taste defeats. Marquez, however, has been smart enough to escape the Filipino’s wrath in the ring by counter
punching. According to Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach, Marquez’s counter punching is always a threat for Pacquiao when they both go in the ring.
Pacquiao has already promised fans that he would knockout Marquez this time instead of going for a decision win. The Filipino knows how important it is for him to improve his ratings and silence the naysayers, who are claiming that the Filipino fight king
is now just a write-off.
A win would place Pacquiao in a better position to negotiate a super-fight with WBC welterweight titlist Floyd Mayweather, whereas a loss would end the Filipino forever. Pacquiao is already the favourite for the fight, as most analysts believe the Filipino
still has it what it takes to stand victorious in the ring.
