Pacquiao challenges Mayweather to a $140 million fight – Boxing News
Nothing between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going on the right track. Even though both the fighters have tried their level best to make the fight happen, it still seems like there is a long way to go for both of them to finally meet in the
ring. For today, the update is that Manny Pacquiao has offered Mayweather a split in which both the fighters will get 30% of the revenue generated and the remaining 40% will be handed over to the winner. Since most analysts speculate that the fight will reach
around $200 million in revenue, Pacquiao’s offer seems to be heavy enough for Mayweather to refuse.
Even though Manny has made the offer, it is not a definite one since Bob Arum, Manny’s promoter, is the one who will set the terms with Floyd Mayweather. In other words, Manny is no authority to decide who will get what. On Floyd’s side, he is the one to
decide what to do and how much revenue to take and he has made that clear previously as well, when he said he knows what he is asking for and that he will not back off.
Manny Pacquiao currently holds the WBO welterweight champion whereas Floyd Mayweather Jr. currently holds the WBC welterweight champion. Both fighters have some notable achievements in their portfolio to show off. Manny Pacquiao became the world’s first
ever eight-division world champion whereas Floyd Mayweather is a five-division world champion and has never lost a fight to date. A bout between both of them has always been on the cards but never materialised.
Since 2011, fans have been waiting for a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout. Earlier this year, we heard news of both the fighters negotiating with each other to make the fight happen, however they could not come to a conclusion. Mayweather then signed to face
Miguel Cotto whereas Manny Pacquiao went onto fight Timothy Bradley. As of now, Mayweather and Manny both are keeping fans’ hopes alive by saying that the bout will happen probably by November if they can come to an agreement.
