Question:

Pacquiao-marquez 2 sort of like lewis-holyfield 2?

in lewis-holyfield 1, lewis clearly won the fight but it was declared a draw. so in the rematch, everybody thought lewis all he have to do is show up and finish the match and the judges will just award the win to him as vindication for judges' mistake in the first fight.

problem is, holyfield prepared for that fight and he did well. yet the outcome is already decided beforehand so they awarded the win to lewis just the same.

anyway, my take is- Lewis should have won the first fight, second fight should have been a draw...

Pacquiao won the first fight, Marquez did better in the second fight but Pacquiao was more impressive.

  1. The better fighter won that match obviously. A true champion can't live by counterpunching alone. You gotta fight like a champ.

Everybody knows, for Marquez to win against Pacquiao, he has to KO the guy. He couldn't even manage to knock down Manny. In a close fight, that is all that matters. Pacquiao made him kiss the canvas 4 times in 24 rounds and probably even more had JMM not hanged on the rope when the round was almost over. That to me is crucial. Think about it. How can you gift Marquez the fight when the rounds are almost even. Each round could have gone the other way. But you get knocked down and get rattled a few times and brutally beaten, don't expect to win. The least you could expect is a draw just like the last one. Lucky Marquez got a draw the last time. Had the judge scored the 1st fight correctly in the 1st round, Pacquiao would have won and this fight would have not happened.

The true champion is the person wjho's doesn't wait and counterpunch. A champion brings the game to the opponent. That is why like Manny said "BUSINESS IS OVER".

I say TAKE IT LIKE A MAN and move on. There is nothing anyone in this world can do anyway but to moan. Pacquiao is the champ and he has the belt. No amount of talking or sour grapings by his camp or his fans can change that. I guess JMM will just fade away as nobody would fight him now after his loss to PACMAN.

  2. nah i dont think pacquiao is impressive in that one, its the second time that ive seen him not much like his old self, the first time was the barera rematch, lousy boxing that fight so was the rematch wiht marquez, i think pacquiao is losing whatever it is that he used to have to back up his power and lack of boxing skills, if hes forver be like that, wihout his usual craving  to beat up oponents, he should be better thinking twice about going up in weight and facing bigger guys, ive no definite stance about his rematch with marquez, if the fight have been decided a draw again, i wouldnt be surpise, if it went to marquez same thing, its justthat close to me that whoeever had been decided the winner the other guy would claim that he should be the winner, its close, and marquez claiming that hes the winner of that one is fair, im undecided cant decide from what ive seen to whom should the belt go

  3. That is a good reason! Pacquiao might have won in a very edgy victory in his first fight, this second fight is kind of a draw but Pacquiao proves that he can survive, the knock out was probably his key. Both fighters are champions, Pacquiao is still young like I am, I hope him and his corner can learn a lesson from this- But Pacquiao won and I am a proud Filipino, *it did not feel like a full victory though...

Marquez and the Mexicans gets the karma and the same feeling of fights that are like this and good thing this did not favored them, i'd laugh at their mariachi and their very long anthem with no vocals at all, but still Filipinoe's and Mexicans are the proudest nationality, the half Filipina and Mexicana singer of the stars spangled banner proves to be why we should give respect to both nationality and fighters.

Is there going to be a rematch? can someone reply to my answer?
