Pacquiao to meet Arum to schedule his next fight – Boxing News
Manny Pacquiao, former WBO welterweight titlist, is on the move to meet his promoter Bob Arum from Top Rank. Pacquiao will be leaving for Europe for a family vacation but he wants to meet up with Arum first to chart his next fight. After his controversial
split decision title loss to Bradley, it is a tough call for Pacquiao and Arum to make, as to whether they want a Bradley rematch or not.
Pacquiao has been demanding a rematch right from the day he lost his title to the ‘Desert Storm’. However, Bob Arum has been the one trying to impede him. According to Arum, the clash between Bradley and Pacquiao ended up controversially, and now fans are
not interested in watching another Bradley vs. Pacquiao. Arum, who is always seen as a figure who prefers making money more, believes a fight against Marquez will be a better seller than a rematch against Bradley.
On the other hand, last week, after WBO’s review results of the fight were announced, Pacquiao told his fans that he would be seeking a rematch against Bradley soon. He even promised his fans in the Philippines to stay calm and to believe in him, as he will
bring the title ‘back home’.
Pacquiao’s adviser Mike Koncz spoke about the meeting in an interview. He revealed, “We'll see if we can meet with Bob before we leave.”
It should be noted here that November 10 is the date selected by Arum for Pacquiao’s next bout. Last week, Team Pacquiao announced that the Filipino has a plethora of options to consider for his next bout. Floyd Mayweather jr., Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel
Marquez and Bradley are the four options Pacquiao can go for. Of course, Mayweather tops the list, as fans are still hoping for a Pacquiao vs. Mayweather bout.
For now, it seems like Pacquiao will be asking Arum for a rematch against Bradley. Arum has previously said that Pacquiao is the boss and whatever he wants will happen. Chances are that Pacquiao would land up with a rematch against Bradley or against Mexican
Juan Manuel Marquez.
