  1. Sure.  Valero has a put together an impressive string of stirring knockouts.

The critics say he is a fraud, but that may be a bit harsh for 2 reasons.

First, due to a head injury sustained outside of a boxing ring in 2001, Valero has never been licensed to fight in the US.

Texas has recently licensed Valero, and that means that the NSAC will likely license Valero as well.

Most fighters who are decent fighters that do not fight in the US have avoided Valero like the plague, so it has been difficult for him to get a decent fighter to face.

Second, I do not think there is a boxer at 135 who could have 25 fights, against the opposition that Valero has had and KO them all in fewer rounds than it has taken Valero.

Valero is not some Tye Fields, Chavez Jr, and so on whose record is impressive because of carefully picked opponents, he has fought anyone willing to step into the ring with him, and has fought anywhere he can get a fight.

That said, Valero is making the wrong move fighting PacMan now.  I think he should fight three fights in the US before deciding to fight Pac, but alas, that is moot.

I think PacMan KOs Valero in the 3rd or 4th, but I also think Pac is put on the canvas in the 1st or second round.

  2. No real point other than a payday for Pacquiao, Valero would be in way over his head, and the fight wouldn't go very long before Manny Pacquiao added another KO to his record.  As for the injury and the subsequent licensing problems, that never stopped the organizations from licensing Marco Antonio Barerra and Marco had a serious head injury himself but still ended up fighting his way into the boxing hall of fame even with a plate in his skull.  Manny Pacquiao got KO by a guy named TorriCampo, so Valero would have a punchers chance, but you have to figure trying to out punch Pacquiao at 135 or below would be an uphill battle for anyone.

All the advantages are with Pacquiao in this one.
