Pad Thai question?

Is traditional and authentic Pad Thai made with a tamarind based sauce or a tomato based one? I have seen it made both ways and both are delicious, but which one is the "real" pad thai?

i LOVE pad thai and i never tried it with the tomato based. just the tamarind. i think the tamarind is the original one. i'm sure the tomato one tastes just as good as the original. i should try it.
