Question:

Padded breastplate?

So I just got the July issue of Equus and in one of the pictures (page 60 - if you have the magazine) there is a carriage horse with a black hunt-style breastplate on. It's padded with white, like a dressage bridle.

I was wondering if any of you had a breastplate like this, or know where you can find them. I've tried googling (not to a great extent though because i'm at work :p ) and can't come up with anything.

Any help would be appreciated as I would love love love to have one of these for my event horse for the dressage phase!

Thanks in advance!

  1. Gosh, I don't know where to find the breastplate and it will be difficult without knowing the manufacturer.  Two suggestions --first try taking the picture to your local tack shop to see if they can look it up in their catalogues.  If this doesn't work you could try emailing the magazine staff to see if they could contact the driving team for info...

~ BUT before you do ~

Please note that a breastplate used with a harness system is probably not made to be used with a saddle.

Also check your USEA rule book, because if I remember correctly breastplates and martingales are not allowed during the dressage phase.

    Good luck!
