Paddy Lowe says Mercedes have made fantastic progress over the past twelve months – Formula 1 news
Mercedes technical director, Paddy Lowe has said that they have been working really hard and have successfully made some fantastic progress over the past twelve months.
The Brackley based squad struggled a lot with some huge technical and tyre management issues during the last season because of which they failed to score competitive points as compared to their rivals. Nevertheless, they have made some amazing developments
in their car over the span of around one year after which they have managed to attain good results with consistency. Both their drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, have performed tremendously well in the season so far and have scored some really good
points due to which their position has become quite stronger in this year’s championship fight.
The Silver Arrows have faced immense criticism over the secret Pirelli test and have been criticised over their long bench of technical experts in the team. However, Lowe has asserted that they are not paying any attention to the ongoing criticism and are
extremely happy with their commendable progress.
“If people think that there are too many technical directors in Mercedes, then all you can say is that it seems to be working for them,” he told Autosport. “Mercedes have made fantastic progress in the last 12 months, so what is wrong with that?”
“The other thing is that it is not as though there are a whole bunch of cooks trying to do the same job,” he said. “There is always a huge amount of work to do in this business if you want to be successful.”
“I think it is a great team. They have achieved fantastic progress over the past 12 months,” he added.
Currently, Mercedes are standing at second place in the constructors’ championship. Furthermore, they are ahead of their main rival, Ferrari and behind the defending champions, Red Bull Racing.
The competition is definitely going to be more intense in the season ahead. It will be thrilling to see how Hamilton and Rosberg perform in the forthcoming races and whether they will be able to come up to the expectations of their team.
