Question:

Paddy O’Brien, your hypocrisy is laughable and pathetic?

IRB referees boss Paddy O’Brien stated the following

"The IRB believes the standard of refereeing is the highest it has ever been at a Rugby World Cup tournament.”

Then this

“The pass was forward but that's rugby refereeing.”

If the standard is so high Paddy then why was this pass missed. Why has this high standard of refereeing caused the biggest furore in the history of the game.

What do you think?

  1. Come on man... its not gunna change the past. Youre not doing yourself any favour by thinking what if... let it go... we know the all blacks are the best team period.

Except every once every four years... they have their bad day.

-AB Supporter that has moved on...

  2. No Wonder why the Referees are all laughable!...Because their Boss..Paddy who we all know will favour a team in a Test Match!

Well he did it to the Fijians...He was right there when the French collapsed the Scrum in 1991..then he gave a penalty try to the French!...You Mongrel!

Somebody get Paddy outta' there...He will take out the sweetness of International Rugby with his biase decisions. Maybe the French gave him some money so that he can tell that stupid Referee to award the Win to the French!

  3. That's one thing I find irritating about Rugby referees.

If a player plays badly normally they will get dropped and won't play but when a referee does a bad job the IRB jump in and protect them and say that they had a good game.

I think the IRB and Referees would get a lot more respect if they just came out and said that the referees made a mistake.

After all they are only human

  4. My thought re the forward pass is that there are lots of forward passes in rugby that never get picked up, I therefore don't have a massive problem with Barnes missing that as it was at pace in space and lots of referees would have made the same mistake.  I do however have a problem with how Barnes refereed the breakdown, continually letting France be offside, and not just offside but WAY offside in some instances.  Also the McAllister sin binning was a joke, all I can think is that Barnes saw the Frenchman hitting the deck out of the corner of his eye and ruled on what he THOUGHT MUST have happened, instead of ruling on what he actually saw.

Re Paddy O'Brien, he has got to say the refereeing is good as he is in charge.  If the refereeing is bad how does he justify his massive salary?  I think the refereeing is has been of a particularly low standard although I haven't seen all games, mainly just the AB games.  For Paddy to say the refereeing is higher than previous RWC's says to me that either the refereeing was abysmal at previous RWC's or Paddy has his blinkers on and is protecting his refs.  I believe it is the later.

    I'm still not over it!

  5. At the end of the day, there are decisions made that go against the losing team!

The same thing happened in the Fiji  v Wales game, was that Fiji try a try????????

When it comes down to it, that one try should not have made any difference, Wales should have won that game by far more points than they did!

the AB's have boasted themselves up as being so frigging supreme to other teams in this RWC, they should have been many points ahead before that forward pass anyway, if they are that fecking good!

Don't blame the ref for a poor decision, when the team itself is even more poorer!

  6. it is a farce in itself and should never have happened at such a high level, what happened - happened.... I dont entirely agree with patty o'briens views however it goes without saying thats rugby refereeing!
