Padraig Harrington commits to play at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open – Golf News
Padraig Harrington of Ireland has committed to participate in the European Tour’s Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open. The tournament is slated to start from July 11, 2013.
The Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness will be the host venue this season, and is set to feature some of the best players from all over the world.
Talking to the European Tour’s official website, the Irish star relished the opportunity to play on the links course and said that it will be a great opportunity for him to make preparations for the US Open. The second major golf
championship event is set to be staged right after one week of the Scottish Open.
“There is no substitute for competitive play on a links course to prepare for The Open,” said Harrington. “You can practise all day long, but you cannot replicate the same conditions on the range as you can on a links course, especially
with a scorecard in your pocket and a hugely important title on the line.”
“The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open ticks all of those boxes. We have a great venue at Castle Stuart which provides a good test of links golf that demands all of the shots you need to compete at any Open Championship venue,”
he added.
The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open holds a strong history in featuring a strong line-up each year. This year too, the tournament has reeled in some prominent names, including the likes of three-time Masters Champion Phil
Mickelson, former Open Champion Paul Lawrie and the two-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner Jeev Milkha Singh.
Harrington, who is participating in the event for the third time in his career, holds a decent track record in the event – he finished 14th in 2011 and shared the 16th spot last season.
The tickets to see Harrington, Mickelson and many other European Tour stars are currently available for just £70. You can visit tournament’s official website to book your ticket, or else, you will have to pay £10 extra when buying
it from the gate. Adult day tickets are also available for just £30, which is £5 less than the gate price.
