Padraig Harrington happy with his game on the greens
The Irish professional golfer, Padraig Harrington has not been playing particularly well in the last few tournaments that he participated in. The last tournament that he won was the U.S. PGA Championship in 2008. Ever since, he has not bagged even a single
regular tournament win.
Recently, he had one good performance, when he secured the tied fourth position in the US Open. He finished the tournament with a magnificent 3-over par. He was just two strokes behind the leader, Webb Simpson.
Now Harrington is getting ready for the British Championship Open 2012. He will be going head to head with the biggest names in the world of golf on this auspicious event.
The four-day event is to start from the 19th of July and will end on the 22nd of July. The venue for this year’s Championship Open is the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Course.
In the previous Opens, the weather conditions have not been favourable for the players competing for the Claret Jug. Players had to face heavy rains and strong winds.
This year the same has been forecasted. This means that the outcome of the tournament will largely depend on the time at which the players tee off.
Whatever maybe the conditions and how bad maybe the weather, currently Harrington is very happy about his game. He is in good form and has a good chance to get ready for the British Open. He just needs to be consistent to win it.
He is especially happy with his putting. In an interview he said, “I've been putting better, that's essentially it. I'm playing better but the putting really does help. I would have said I played well over the last couple of years too, at times, but I certainly
didn't putt very well”.
Harrington is known for over hitting the ball on the greens. He has the situation in control now.
"I'm particularly trying to improve my ability to hole 15-footers and I've done a lot of practice on them. I used to have a 15-foot putting stroke for a four-foot putt and I didn't realise that,” he explained.
